Education Transformation

Use these materials to educate yourself on the education transformation framework and how to have a meaningful sales conversations with education leaders.

Begin the journey here

You are about to meet a Minister, a School Leader, a policymaker, or a partner. How would you start the conversation about how Microsoft empowers every student to achieve more?

To start, print the Transformation Framework poster on large paper (A3 or A1 – the goal is to have them place it on the wall), but more importantly so that you can just set it down on the table and show it off. No deck needed!
Organize and sit-down over coffee
Spread out the Transformation poster on the coffee table and share what Microsoft sees as the 10 most critical components for Holistic Transformation.

It does not matter where you start, but if you need a starting point and it’s your first meeting …..ask about their vision, their goals, their needs. Then, you can align with one of the 10 conversations in the framework…… or it may be that they want the whole framework.

You will notice that each conversation is broad enough to be easily aligned to the main talking points many of the customers ask about. After your conversation, you have a wonderful leave-behind Transformation Framework brochure that describes an overview of the Education Transformation Framework, which you can print or email.
Lastly, have a working session with your customer to get them started!
Your follow-up session can be one when you and the customer can have a deep dive on the themes that matter to them. This session can be a workshop that you can lead or one that our team can help you with. Either way, the goal is to create something concrete with the customer that leads to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) or Proof of Concept (POC).

In the last year we have seen a large spike in global threat activity. The 2017 Internet Security Threat Report(ISTR) looks at targeted attacks, email threats, web attacks, cyber-crime and ransom ware, along with IoT, mobile and cloud threats. These were the six key trends of the last year:

  • Targeted Attacks Shifted to Politically Motivated Sabotage and Subversion – Cyber criminals executed devastating attacks in a move to undermine a new class of targets.
  • Email Became the Weapon of Choice for 2016 – Malicious emails hit the highest rate in five years. One in 131 emails contained a malicious link or attachment.
  • Attackers Weaponized Commonly Used Software – 95% of PowerShell scripts found in the wild were malicious.
  • Americans Most Likely to Pay Ransom Demands – The average ransom rose to $1,077 and nearly a third of these attacks impacted businesses.
  • Cracks in the Cloud– Most CIOs thought their companies used 30-40 cloud apps, when in reality it was 928.
  • IoT Devices Attacked Within Two Minutes of Connecting to the Internet – Many IoT manufacturers follow poor security practices, including bad password management and out-of-date software that can’t be updated.
